The theme of this year’s walk is " The Power of Unity".

The African Heritage Walkathon, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting community empowerment efforts in the Black/Afrikan-American Community

The 2006 (4th) Afrikan Heritage Walkathon funds were awarded to the Great Blacks in Wax Museum, to support production and exhibition of the statues of late Dr. Martin, co-founder of the Great Blacks in Wax Museum and late Baba Dr. John T. Chissell, M.D., originator of the Pyramids of Power, who have served diligently, the Black/Afrikan-American community during their lives here.

Our goal for this Fifth walkathon is to raise a minimum of $100,000 to support, collective activities that will generate prosperity and cohesive empowerment among our people:

The Afrikan Heritage Walkathon invites the entire community to participate as walkers, sponsors, and/or support volunteers. Organizations are being asked to provide Black/Afrikan-American Economic, Business, Health, Cultural, and Social Development related information and services as vendors.

A festival program to include a keynote speech by Marshall Eddie Conway, drumming/music and awards will take place at the end of the walk. Refreshments will be available and participants will receive a certificate of appreciation and acknowledgement. Transportation back to the Great Blacks in Wax Museum will be provided for walkers.
