Baba Ademola Ekulona

“Warrior Priest Scholar of African Decent"

Yoruba Priest Baba Ademola Ekulona is a proud father of 6 children and 1 grandchild. A Harvard University graduate, he has worked in commercial TV for 22 years as producer and director and currently teaches GED classes at BCCC.

 

 "Baba"  Ras Marcus

Active in the Rastafarian Movement, Baba Ras Marcus migrated from Jamaica West Indies to the United State and has been in the US for 50 years. He is the founder of African Family Day and is president of Ancestors Roots Cooperated. A talented poet and musician he is a revered Afrikan drummer and recording artist who works in production and distributes his own music.

 

Clarice Farmer “Mama Sufi”

“Conscious and Clear due to the rites of passage program

Mama Sufi and her sister Latifa Bilali are business partners who run a gift and cultural shop that serves the community. They have been in business now for 8 years as of November 2006. Mama Sufi had been a License Practical nurse for 20 years and is currently employed in a non-medical capacity as a personal care provider. Although the sisters opened the shop with the intention to create financial wealth, they soon realized their purpose is to serve the community.

 

“Mama" Amon-Darko

“To improve life of our People, and  improve conditions that we have been dealing with.”Mama Amon-Darko has been co-host of the "Just You and Me" Talk Show on  Morgan State University Radio 88.9 FM for more than 25 years. Among her many talents she is griot-story teller. Mama Amon-Darko had been mentored by Anditu Siwatu, a former black panther member and she is affiliated with 3generations of struggle. A member of the Citizens Coalition For Urban Survival, her goal is to improve the life of people of African descent and to improve conditions that affect our daily lives.

 
 
Rev Annie Chambers Mumsimba Akra  

“I have changed. I work solely with the creator. The Creator works with me.” At the age of 65 she is a proud mother of 25 children, 116 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grands. Rev Annie Chambers Mumsimba Akra is a Civil Rights Organizer/Leader. A long time member of the Black Panther Party. She assisted in implementing the Voting Rights Act. Activein her community she is president of The National Welfare Rights Union-Eastern District, president of the Baltimore City Scatter Site Housing, president of Operation Life Baltimore Homeless Union and Pastor at the Afrikan Heritage Love

Ministry.

 

Mama Maat

  “Try to be better today than we were yesterday, Try better tomorrow than we are today.”

Mama Maat is a teacher and her goal in this life time is to help uplift people of African descent. In her quest she has been active  Soulv Nation , Families against Injustice, Campaign to End the Death Penalty, Afrikan Americans on a Mission and Medusa RA Auset among many other organizations.

“Baba" A. Zirikote

“ I am an Elder who works for positive

changes in the community.”

The originator of the Afrikan Living Theater, Baba Zirikote is  a Visual Artist and former dancer with the Sankofa Dance Theater. He is affiliated with many organizations. i.e. Harambe Rites of Passage, Afrikan Spiritual Love Ministry, Soulviav Nation and Ancestors Village.
